Codegate Hacking Festival’09
As we mentioned in our previuos post, four intrepid pandas participated in the final round of the CodeGate Hacking Festival competition. The contest finished 24 hours ago and, in what were some dramatic final minutes, we ended up seizing a pretty good 2nd position. We had a good start (as we often manage to pull off) and we were 1st during a big part of the contest but less than one hour before the end CParK team overtook us and grabbed the first position. That ranking seemed kind of definitive but 10 minutes before the end we managed to recover the 1st spot. We enjoyed nine minutes of glory until CParK solved a challenge in the last minute. The final top-3 was: CParK, Pandas and PLUS.
It was really fun despite the fact of finally not winning after being so close and we have to say thanks to all the organization, specially the beistlab members. Everything was taken care of and thought to the smallest detail. And obviously, greetz to all the teams and hope to face you in upcoming contests. All were amazingly skilled and fun to hang out with.

Woobi woobi’s for everybody!
It was such a well organized hacking event I just couldn’t believe it when we were there!
And while it’s a pity that we lost in such an epic finale when we were sooo close to making it, I had never enjoyed a CTF so much.
The treatment we received was so exquisite that I can only thank Beistlab and all the sponsors of the event and hope the best for them in the upcoming Codegates.

PS: I would greet so much people but I don’t remember most of the names! everyone at beistlab: beist, redd0g, oldzombie, adc (watch out for this guy, he’s A-mazing), hahah, …; 1@stplace: atlas, jessie, jared…; the sweden folks from WHMM: rebel, kaliman…; the italian guys from Guard@MyLan0, CParK, Plus, gon, Argos, the cute noisemaking korean girl from padocon (hiii!!), the high-profile korean personalities we met at the after-CTF dinner… And everyone that I remember I met but I forgot their names *^_^*

hey~ my name is James Park, I was one of the staff from CODEGATE organizing Committee, (I went after party with you and told you that you look similar to Raul) However, you guys were great in the CODEGATE and hope you come back next year and win the 1st place. (Korean hacker ain’t that easy to beat ^^)
Anyways, i was just collecting news about codegate and got here.!!!

hey guys, it was great hanging out and competing against you. we were definitely impressed with the quality of the conference and the hacking contest itself. i’d like to go back, but i hope we see you at defcon in the mean time. woobi woobi!
